Do tick marks and the number label indicate number of scans across a peak? alena meledina  2025-07-15 01:29

Hello Skyline developers and community,

When I inspect chromatographic peaks in Skyline, I notice small vertical tick marks under each peak, as well as a number shown beneath the peak integration window.

I would like to understand the meaning of these visual elements:

— Do the tick marks correspond to individual MS scan points where the selected transition was measured?
— Is the number (e.g., "17") displayed under the peak the total count of these scan points across the peak?

Could you please confirm whether this interpretation is correct? If it is, would it be possible to provide a reference to any official documentation, tooltip text, or forum thread confirming that?

Thank you very much for your clarification!

Best regards,
Alena

Yes that number is the points across the peak. Here it is mentioned in the release notes. https://skyline.ms/wiki/home/software/Skyline/page.view?name=new-4-1-features
