Hi,

I have been encountering errors whenever I try to build a spectral library by importing ".mzid" files generated from Byonic (Protein Metrics). The error message is as follows:

"Error getting score type for this file.
ERROR: Unknown exception
ERROR:
ERROR: reading file test.mzid"

This happens even when I try to import files that have previously been imported in the past (when my skyline version did not have the "score type" and "score threshold" columns). Could you please advise on how we currently import .mzid files to build spectral libraries?

Thank you!

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience - this is a bug that will be fixed in the next Skyline-daily.

Thanks,
Kaipo

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply! Is this bug only in Skyline-daily, and hence, absent in the non-beta version? Are there any other current workarounds you could perhaps suggest?

Thank you!

The normal Skyline release should work for building the spectral library. The next Skyline-daily should be available soon.

Alternatively, if you are comfortable with running commands from the command line, you can run BlibBuild/BlibFilter (https://skyline.ms/project/home/software/BiblioSpec/begin.view) directly. These executables are located in the same location as the Skyline-daily executable (see https://skyline.ms/wiki/home/software/Skyline/page.view?name=tip_recover_install on locating it, or you can right-click Skyline in the Task Manager and select "Open file location").

Thanks,
Kaipo
