error while building library from msms.txt zeyusun  2018-08-14 03:11

Dear Skyline team

Since I updated the Skyline to 4.1.0.18169 version, I have issue to build a library using an msms.txt file generated by MQ (version 1.6.1.0) on QE and QE-HFX raw data, I get the error message looks like this:

System.Exception: Failed trying to build the redundant library K:\rabbit\prm\GGG.redundant.blib.

I have put the mqpar.xml to the same folder of msms.txt. I have also tried different datasets, which produced the same error.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Sun

Can you send us your msms.txt and mqpar.xml files?

If each of those files is less than 50MB, then you can attach them to this support request.
Otherwise, you can upload them here:
https://skyline.ms/files.url

Hi Nick,
thank you for the reply.
I have uploaded the files to the skyline.ms/files.url.
It's in the zeyusunfiles.zip, but I wasn't sure that I have upload it successfully so I uploaded the msms.txt and mqpar.xml separately again. Sorry for the duplicate. You can delete one of them.
Best regards,
Sun

I was able to successfully build a library using the msms.txt . Can you tell me more about that error message?

Is there anything unusual about that drive letter "K:"? Is it possible that you do not have permissions to write to files there?

Hi Nick,
K: is a portable hardisk, but I don't think it was the problem, I got the same error message when I try to build library from D: driver.

I am not able to get more info about the error other than this message given by the Skyline
System.Exception: Failed trying to build the redundant library D:\test.redundant.blib.

So I want to make sure if I was building the library in correct steps:
Peptide Settings->Library->build (specify Name and Output Path)->Next (Add files, select msms.txt)->finish

Or is it possible the new Skyline version require some additional exterior components or software updates?

Have you tried this on any other computers or have you tried this using Skyline-Daily?
It might be that something got messed up with your Skyline installation, and you just need to uninstall and reinstall Skyline.

But, if you are seeing this same error on a different computer, or if you are seeing it with Skyline-Daily on the same computer as Skyline, then I can make and send you a special version of Skyline that will have better error reporting in this area.

Let me know whether you can get this bug to happen somewhere else.

Nick,
I think I got the problem solved. It seems my antivirus software deleted the blibbuild.exe when I try to build the library. Therefore after I recovered the blibbuild.exe and shutdown the antivirus sheild, the program went OK without errors.

Although the problem was solved, I just want to report that my antivirus software did found this "QEM202.0.3178.Malware" which I am not really sure is a malware or not or whether it came with the Skyline package, but I think I need to report it here in case there are any fix need to be done about this issue.

thank you!
