This is the first I have heard this in working with SCIEX Q Trap operators over the past 9 years. I have never heard anything like it for other types of instruments either. We certainly have Skyline on every (Thermo) instrument PC here and running AutoQC to process our QC data with Skyline on the instruments and post it to Panorama.

I have initiated an email exchange with my contacts at SCIEX, as they are funding the Skyline project with a lot of effort devoted to the integration with their triple quadrupole instruments.

I am sure they will be interested and responsive if a software fix is required to avoid issues with Skyline running on their instrument PCs. Though, initially, we are doubtful this is actually the case.

Anyway, you have gotten our attention. David Cox is checking at SCIEX, but perhaps it would be good to put us in touch with the service engineer to help track down the source of this information and whether it can actually be reproduced or whether it is more a case of "installing 3rd party software voids your warranty".

Are you able to reproduce this? What is the service engineer proposing? Remove Skyline? Does that fix the problem? Completely reimage the system? If so, it would be interesting to see if installing Skyline after the reimage breaks communication again. That would be a great starting point for tracking down an integration issue.
