That is unfortunate. This looks like a fairly low-level system error. So, if you haven't tried restarting the computer, you might try that first.
Otherwise, you are best off following the instructions for dealing with a broken installation:

Even if you end up needing to uninstall and reinstall, this will take you through what you can do to preserve your settings across that reinstallation.
