I just got a support request from someone who had specified:

http://panoramaweb.org

as their Panorama server in the server configuration form. This person got an "unknown error", leaving him unsure what to do.

To make this type of request less likely in the future, the code should try HTTPS, when this error occurs and auto-switch the URL to the HTTPS version, if that succeeds.
