Title»Add File > Import > Replicate Annotations... menu item

I just demoed the replicate annotations to our collaborators at Purdue, and they asked whether it was possible to import values for the annotations from a text (CSV) file. I said it was not. They then pointed out that they sometimes have dozens to hundreds of replicates, which they usually catalog in an Excel spreadsheet before they even collect data. In these cases it would be easiest for them to define custom replicate annotations, and then just import annotation values from their spreadsheet, i.e. a CSV file, rather than having to sit down with the spreadsheet and enter them again manually into the Results Grid.

A different way to approach this problem would be to allow people to somehow paste into the ResultsGrid, similar to how they can paste into the "Edit|Insert|Xxx" dialogs.
I wonder whether people would also want to be able to import annotation values for things like Proteins.

Pasting from Excel into the results grid could be cool. It is a little more complicated than Edit|Insert|Xxx, since the fields could be true/false or value lists, and ideally you would want to be able to put the focus on a cell and have the paste fill down and right from the selected cell, like in Excel.

But, if you could support that kind of pasting, then it could be made totally general to all annotations in the Results Grid.

May no longer be necessary with Live Reports that you can paste into. We'll wait for a new request with a real-world use case.
