We should figure out why it failed silently, but also should probably be case insensitive for sequence data.

Unable to repro (it fails, but in an orderly and not silent manner), though it's true that strictly speaking we should accept lowercase amino acid sequences, at least according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FASTA_format#Original_format_&_overview
