Intermittent Error: Could not connect to Skyline mmarx  2020-07-22 13:59
 

I am running the Agilent Automation tool and intermittently I am getting the error message when I click 'Create Project':
Error: Could not connect to Skyline.
Make sure you have a valid Skyline installation.

It usually occurs after Skyline and the Automation tool have been idle for a period of time.
Sometimes, if I just try again it will work. Other times, the error continues to occur.

Hi Marilyn,

I believe the Agilent Automation tool is using SkylineRunner.exe which launches a new "invisible" instance of Skyline when it is run. SkylineRunner does not interact with any running (visible) instances of Skyline, so having an idle instance of Skyline will not cause this error. We have found that sometimes it takes longer for SkylineRunner to create a new instance of Skyline than the allowed time, and that causes the error you have reported. We will increase the timeout in SkylineRunner and post a new build soon. I will respond to this post as soon as it is available for download.
