Export Method from Skyline Daily to Waters Xevo TQ-XS equipment danielacgranato  2020-02-20
 

Dear,
We have been using Skyline in computers that are not connected to the mass spectrometer to export our methods to Waters Xevo TQ-XS. To do so we installed MassLynx 4.1 version in our computers and it has been working fine like that. Actually it was a suggestion given by you in 2017. Recently, we have tried to export the method from one of our computers that did not have MassLynx installed (we just installed it in a non operative mode) and it did not work.

Do you have any other suggestion in how I can export the method without having the need to install Skyline in the computer connected to the mass spectrometer? In case that is the only way, do you have information if the new version of MassLynx 4.2 currently allows us to export the method from Skyline? Thank you very much. Best, Daniela

Hi Daniela,
I have a bit of trouble following this. It sounds like you tried to export a method from a computer without MassLynx installed, which definitely will not work, but it should still work to install MassLynx on a computer which is not connected to your mass spectrometer on which you have installed MassLynx and added a mock instrument.

Thank you for the response. Sorry the previous message wasn´t clear. I have described better my problem below:
1-I have installed MassLynx 4.1 SCN SCN950 on a computer which is not connected to our mass spectrometer and added a mock instrument. Although it is possible that MassLynx is not correctly installed, since I haven´t been able to open properly the software.
2-I have attempted to export a method from this computer to avoid installing Skyline Daily in the computer we have connected to the Waters Xevo TQ-XS.
3-Unfortunantely, I am receiving an error message (see attachment).
4-Do you suggest I should contact neil macdonald or hans_vissers to receive another version of MassLynx?

Yes. Please use those contacts at Waters. The problem you are having is a Waters installation problem and is not something we can solve in Skyline.
