Skyline installation failed YangZhang  2018-10-03 11:35

Dear Skyline team,

Skyline froze when I tried to upgrade, then I found the recover tips and deleted skyl* files in APP 2.0 folder.
Now I am getting same error as reported in another thread.

https://skyline.ms/announcements/home/support/respond.view?parentId=24d7307c-02a0-1035-9581-a631c49526db&returnUrl=%2Fannouncements%2Fhome%2Fsupport%2Fthread.view%3FrowId%3D29804

I attached the error log here.
Is there anything I can try?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yang

Hi Yang,
Really not sure. Seems like something wrong at the system level. You may need to use one of the other types of installers:

  • Disconnected
  • Administrator

Somehow I can't really explain, the web installer seems to be broken on your system, and if you have already worked through the advice on the recovery page, I am not sure we can give you better help.

Thanks for reporting your installation problem.

Hi Brendan,

Good new! I was able to install via Administrator mode (however unplugged mode has same issue as described before).
A new issue is when I tried to run SkylineRunner, it says can't find Skyline:

Error: Unable to find Skyline program at any of the following locations:
C:\Users\LAB\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\MacCoss Lab, UW\Skyline.ap
C:\Users\LAB\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Skyline\Skyline.appref-ms

Is there a workaround for this?
thanks,

Yang

If you have installed the Administrator version of Skyline, then you should not use SkylineRunner.

Instead, you should use the program:
C:\Program Files\Skyline-daily\SkylineCmd.exe

SkylineRunner's job is to look through the Start Menu and figure out where Skyline has been installed, and run Skyline.
However, with the Administrator install, you know exactly where Skyline is, so you should just use the "SkylineCmd.exe" which is in that folder.

Sorry one last question, what is the difference between SkylineCmd.exe vs SkylineProcessRunner.exe?
