The LCMS group within the R&D Discovery and Technology Futures group is looking for a creative and energetic Discovery Team Lead to join our organization. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced scientists at the BS/MS and PhD levels to lead multiomic biomarker discovery projects. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has strong wet-bench and data analysis skills and a deep understanding of LCMS instrumentation and software. Additionally, the successful candidate must be a proven technical leader with a demonstrated track record for delivering on challenging biomarker discovery projects.
What you can expect:
Lead a growing dynamic LCMS Discovery team consisting of PhD scientists to Lab Associates to develop novel and robust multiomic biomarker platforms.
Use cutting edge instrumentation and analysis software to dig deep into the world of proteomics, glycobiology, metabolites, post-translational modifications and lipidomics across blood, urine, tissues (including FFPE sections), and fecal samples.
Interface with other teams within the R&D Discovery and Technology Futures group to align on project priorities and schedules to ensure that the goals of the organization are met.
Drive experimental design for large biomarker experiments and optimize sample preparation protocols for expanding reach of discovery programs.
Develop top down workflows with immunoaffinity capture for characterization of proteins of interest.
Prepares materials, performs experiments, analyzes data, and reaches conclusions.
Present data and strategy to IDEXX leadership.
Communicate and clearly present results to a broad audience within R&D, including IDEXX senior leadership.
Maintain an active knowledge of developments in the field and industry through seminars and conferences.
What you need to succeed:
PhD in scientific or related discipline with at least 3-5 years of post-doctoral biomarker discovery experience. Experience in academia qualifies but industry experience is preferred.
Background in Biochemistry or Chemistry with a deep understanding of LCMS instrumentation and data analysis software.
Demonstrated ability to work with wide variety of sample types, including plasma/serum proteomic experience.
Experience with Thermo Scientific Orbitrap mass spectrometers is ideal.
Experience with proteomic software tools and developing ad hoc data processing workflows.
Incorporating AI and Machine Learning into the biomarker discovery workflow.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate techniques and deliver results.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team of scientists, collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary program, and overcome barriers to produce successful outcomes on challenging technical projects.
