The OHSU Proteomics Shared Resource (PSR) facility was established to make state-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based protein analysis capabilities available to the biomedical research community at OHSU. The PSR provides services to both internal and external clients outside OHSU, including supporting ophthalmological and cancer research by members of the Casey Eye and Knight Cancer Institutes.

PSR has an immediate opening for a full-time Research Associate (RA). OHSU provides a comprehensive compensation package including salary, and benefits such as PTO, medical/dental/vision and 401(k) plan etc.

Responsibilities

Prepare samples for proteomics analysis by LC/MS using standard operating procedures

Develop and test new methodologies of sample preparation

Document experimental work, analyze data, and present results

Prepare and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Operate mass spectrometry instrumentation, perform troubleshooting and maintenance

Manage multiple projects within timelines assigned maintaining high scientific and ethical standards

Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications

Work collaboratively with team members

Other duties as assigned to support the PSR.

Qualifications:
•Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, analytical chemistry or related field with major courses in the field of research and 5 years of relevant experience

•Preferred: MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or closely aligned field

•Extensive knowledge of complex proteomics sample preparation methods as applied to protein mass spectrometry workflows, implementing quantitative mass spectrometry-based strategies including label-free analyses (DIA, PRM/SRM) and labeled (TMT) methods

•Prior experience in operation of LC/MS systems preferably Thermo Orbitraps

•In-depth understanding of both hardware and software of nanoflow LC-MS

•Proficiency in LC-MS related software and data analysis

•Highly motivated, a team player, a quick learner, and a problem solver

•Excellent oral and written communication skills

•Eligibility to work in the United States
