The Tow Center for Developmental Oncology at MSKCC is seeking a highly motivated scientist with experience in proteomics and biochemistry. The Senior Research Scientist will be part of the Molecular Therapeutics Initiative, dedicated to the development of improved models of childhood cancers and mechanism-based translational science, with the aim to enable improved therapies for patients. As Senior Research Scientist you will participate in the execution of biochemical and molecular studies supporting the Tow Center and collaborating investigators. You will have a central role in the proteomic analysis of tumor samples using advanced analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry proteomics and single-cell protein and nucleic acid profiling. Under guidance, you will establish SOPs, develop analytical methods, and optimize experimental protocols. You will be part of a collaborative effort in an ambitious project and are therefore expected to be organized, flexible, and an excellent team player. This role is an opportunity to join a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary team with access to state-of-the-art technologies and the prospective of implementing innovative research and discovery tools in order to advance cancer science and treatments for children and adults with refractory cancers.

You are:
• An experienced biochemist with a strong background in proteomics and molecular biology
• Proficient with analytical chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology
• Proficient with proteomics sample preparation, nanoscale liquid chromatography, nanoelectrospray ionization, and high-resolution mass spectrometry, such as Thermo Orbitrap or Bruker, Sciex, or Waters TOF mass spectrometers
• Eager to learn and respond to challenges
• Highly organized
• Able to multitask and work both independently and in teams
• Capable to adapt to change and evolving circumstances
• An excellent communicator, able to effectively address different audiences

You will:
• Work closely with MSK colleagues to carry out experimental efforts that will include comprehensive proteomic analysis of tumor samples
• Collaborate with MSK core facilities personnel to process and analyze patient specimens
• Operate and maintain high-end analytical instruments
• Present experimental results in written and oral form

You need:
• Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology
• At least three-five years of experience in laboratory research
• Direct experience with mass spectrometry or proteomics
• Experience with cancer biology and other advanced analytical techniques is preferred

To apply, please send one-page letter of interest explaining your past research, current interests, and how your past work has prepared you to succeed and enable our mission, along with your current CV/resume to devonc@mskcc.org.
