Unable to export method to Masslynx 4.2 SCN895 Tran Tran  2020-01-16 16:39

Skyline ( 64-bit) 19.1.0.193
Masslynx V4.2 SCN895/ Waters Xevo TQD
Windows 7 professional 64 bit

Skyline is installed at the same computer as the instrument . I was trying to export CE optimization using the File/ Export /Method/Multiple methods but received an error ( screen shot attached). However, I was able to export into the .csv format using File/Export/Transition List

Waters Tech Support was contacted but they don't have a solution at the time. Masslynx security update isn't installed either.
Wonder if anyone else observed this issue and was able to resolve it.
Thank you,
Tran

Hi Tran,

As you have already determined, that's an error message from the Waters software. Were they unable to give you any information at all? We'd like to help but there's not a lot for us to go on at this point.

Thanks for using the Skyline support board,

Brian Pratt

Hi Tran,

I found a similar support request here: https://skyline.ms/announcements/home/support/thread.view?rowId=38266
It sounds like you will have to obtain a new version of MassLynx (or MassLynx DLL) directly from Waters.

Thanks,
Kaipo

Hi Brian and Kaipo,
Thank you for your replies.
I have seen that request and contacted Waters to get SCN989 but they said SCN989 does not work on our XEVO TQD and SCN985 is the latest version for our model. They also said it's a third party software so they don't support it.

"They also said it's a third party software so they don't support it." You mean Skyline? I bet that response is news to some people inside Waters. We definitely have contacts at Waters who help to work out this kind of issue. Waters is paying to have Skyline support their instruments.

Hi Brendan,
Yes they were referring to Skyline. Brendan, if you can direct me to your contacts with Waters or forward this issue to them, that will be great!
Thank you so much for your help.
Tran

I have directed this to Hans Vissers at Waters, who is the one that answered in the thread referred to above. Hopefully, I will hear back from him sometime next week.

I'm very pleased to report that Hans and Neil MacDonald from Waters (Neil_MacDonald@waters.com) have fixed this issue by sending me a file that needs to be updated in Masslynx. I tested it out and the exporting function works brilliantly now.
Thank you all from the Skyline team for your help!

Great news. Thanks for letting us know. And, thanks to Hans, as always, for all the work he does to support seamless integration between Skyline and Waters instruments and software.

Title: Unable to export method to Masslynx 4.1 SCN950

Dear,
I am having the same problem to export a method from Skyline to MassLynx. Is it possible to direct this to your contacts in Waters? We have a Xevo TQ-XS in our laboratory and I would like to install MassLynx in our lab computers that are not connected to the instrument. I have a beta version of MassLynx 4.1 (SCN950) but the communication with Skyline is not working anymore. I would like to receive a new version of MassLynx to install, so that I can communicate it to Skyline. Thank you very much for your help. Best, Daniela

Maybe you could try the email address above in the support thread or just go directly to your Waters support person. We are hopeful that this has made it onto some kind of Waters support knowledge base and they are now equipped to answer questions like this and give you a working SCN for your instrument.

If none of this works, let us know and we can escalate the issue again through our development channels, but eventually, we want Waters frontline support to be the ones answering these requests.

Thanks. Let us know how it goes.
